Ciudad T4 Barajas

The project encompasses the planning and urban design, management and logistics, along with the economic and environmental strategy for the new creation of a new city integrated into the activity of the Madrid Barajas Airport. The strategic location of the project is alongside the airport. The project has as one of its aims the enhancement of the development of Terminal T4 at Barajas, through a wholescale planning project that would place it at the forefront of large European airports. The initial proposal involved the development of a first stage (zone 1 and 2), with a total surface area of 340,350 m2. Usage included a business park, business centre and congress hall, hotels, corporate buildings, trade, equipment, green areas, public services and sports and leisure areas.

The project was developed by Estudio Lamela and Richard Rogers Partnership (architects’ design consortium for T4 at Barjas), with the aid of Avenue TWC and under the auspice of AENA. The project was presented to AENA as a proposal for the optimisation of lands adjacent to the new Terminal T4 at the Madrid Barajas Airport.
