Tiexi Light Rail Network

Development of an innovative proposal for the first light rail network in Shenyang in the Tiexi Distrcit.  The proposal involves a wholescale development plan (territorial and urban strategy, infrastructure project, and architectonic project) whose aim is to enhance sustainable growth in the district on an economic, social, environmental and cultural level. The feasibility of the proposal was guaranteed through management instruments and innovative financing and promotion schemes.

Works on the Tiexi light rail network are consolidated as the flagship project for the urban regeneration of the district. This project incorporates two fundamental aspects: the implantation of a new, innovative and sustainable public transport system based on the reusing of obsolete railway tracks and the recovery of degraded spaces whilst favouring new urban developments in the district of Tiexi.
