Tiexi Urban Regeneration Strategy

The proposal included comprehensive development plan encompassing territorial and urban actions whose main aim was the boosting of sustainable growth in the district from an economic, social, environmental and cultural viewpoint. The model presented ensured the project’s feasibility through management instruments and innovative financing and promotion schemes.

An integrated diagnostic processs has been developed with the economic, social, environmental and cultural viewpoint of the district, along with a strategy for urban regeneration based on the identification of three strategic projects: (Tiexi Central Park) the underground laying of the railway tracks that border Shenyang’s CBD and the creation of a major linear park equipped with tertiary, residential, cultural and leisure usage; (Tiexi Light Rail) the recuperation of former railway track to form light railway network served by 24 transfer stations that incorporate neighbouring uses; (Tiexi Workers Village) and the recuperation of subsidised residential properties of esteemed heritage value.
